Allowing the author to set his own story serial number
I'd like to see the author being able to set his/her own story serial number over riding the number which I7 automatically generates

The serial number format is defined by the I6 language, so it's not going to change. However, you can use the "printing the banner text" activity to display any text you want.
At a finer level of control (down at the I6 level), you could replace the I6 function VM_Describe_Release() (in "Release Number", "Glulx.i6t"). This is what prints the string "Release [N] / Serial number [S]."
While you're at it, allow longer ones in Glulx games. I want to have them be YYYYMMDDHHMM...
I agree. This should be settable the way that the other parts of the banner are, by a "The serial number is..." construction.

Indeed, you can currently do this with:
Include (- Serial "999999"; -).
But it'd be nice to have an I7-based way to do it.
Should be possible by including I6 code.
